In an effort to explore my own national history, this project explores the underrepresented history of the revolutionary Puerto Rican civil rights organization, The Young Lords Organization. Images of my own family as well as gifs inspired by my own sketchbook correlate my personal history to the collective memory and understanding of Puerto Rican Identity in America.

The limited recognition of the group’s contributions to America’s socio-political landscape is reflective of the general attitude of neglect and disinterest of Puerto Ricans and other Latinx groups in the greater context of US history.
